In the moment when we needed your help—when we hoped you would stand up for the goodness you have known and witnessed throughout your life—you allowed an accusation to overshadow everything you knew about us. The words came through a small, innocent messenger, but I have always questioned what fears, conversations, or influences may have shaped what was said.
